Guide / Sell with fulfilment

Mapping Shopify products and variants

Link each Shopify variant to the correct Colour Apparel garment, colour, size and artwork before enabling its fulfilment.

Selling through Shopify

Map the exact variant

A product can contain several sizes or colours. Each variant needs the correct fulfilment specification; a product-level title is not enough.

Use the product-mapping instructions supplied for your connection. For each Shopify variant, match the garment, colour, size, artwork version, decoration and position, then review the saved result. If your setup is team-managed, send those details to the team for confirmation.

Use the mapping status to find any missing or invalid values, then correct them before testing the product.

Check existing and new products

For an existing Shopify range, review each current variant. For a new range, complete the mapping as part of publishing the products to your store.

Check that product images, descriptions and options match the actual fulfilment item. Use accurately identified supplier imagery for the garment and a clearly labelled preview for customer artwork.

After a product change

Review the mapping when you add sizes, change colours, replace artwork or duplicate a product. A copied product is not evidence that its new variant IDs are mapped.

Existing orders retain the specification accepted for them. Use the order-change route for a change to an order already received.

Test the result

Place an agreed test order containing representative variants and verify the items received by fulfilment. Resolve unmapped variants before releasing the affected product to normal ordering.

A mapping example

Suppose your Shopify product “Studio Tee” has Black / M and Black / L variants. Each needs its own link to the chosen garment code, exact colour and size, approved artwork version, decoration position and finished dimensions. Mapping Black / M does not prove that Black / L is ready. A copied listing may also have new variant identifiers.

Keep a mapping register

  • Shopify product and variant reference.
  • Supplier garment code, colour and size.
  • Artwork file and version, position and dimensions.
  • Decoration method or the agreed production specification.
  • Date checked, person responsible and test-order reference.

What to do with a mismatch

Stop offering the affected variant until the team confirms the correction. Use the mapping instructions supplied for your connection, or send the register and the mismatched variant to Support. Do not use a similar garment code as a temporary substitute without agreement. Changing a product mapping does not change the specification of an order already accepted.
